I'm going to a wedding next month and am going to see everyone alive who is related to me. People who I havent seen in years and unrelated guys I used to have a crush on (so you can imagine). I just had this MAJOR weightloss and look rather...unrecognizable. I'm 17 by the way.

I want to stay true to my roots in terms of style (80z mod meets black and white rock 'n' roll you know?) so I am wearing a black silky dress is only up to below the knee with strappy black heels and firecracker red nails (toes and hands).

MY QUESTION ISSS...

where do you recommend I get my makeup done. A place that can adapt to my style. I dont want pink and typical wedding makeup. I want funky (but not too crazy) smokey black around the eyes (as I have really light green eyes so they pop).

any suggestions on a hairdo by the way? I have a really funky layered(long) haircut and black hair.

once I discovered Laura Mercier, I was hooked - but that's just my humble opinion....but whatever you choose, make sure you're firm on the look you're going for...

I've never heard of that. :(

Has anyone ever gotten their makeup done at MAC?

I would in a heartbeat but what throws me off is that you get a free makeover with a $40.00 purchase. Do you think they would try a little less hard and what not?

I would do the make up myself... but practice a little first; look at magazines to get ideas... Everytime someone else does it... it's never as careful "perfectionistic" as when I do it...

I'd say try MAC, but do a trial first to see if it's what you like. I know it would be a little expensive to have your make-up done for no reason especially, but this seems like it would be a really big night for you, and I think that's worth it.

I think MAC is a good idea for your style, but the charge is so strange to me since I've never been charged ... but I know practices vary from region to region. Since I wear MAC, I'd have no trouble spending $40 ... I could easily spend more stocking up on Blot Powder Light ;)

I should add that I've never had them do my makeup for an occasion, just to try out various things I was thinking about buying.

Btw, congrats on the weight loss :flower:

Oh yes, I should've mentioned that! Congrats on your weight loss, and good luck about seeing everyone again - I'm sure you'll make a great impression!

Yeah another vote for the MAC counter :p Last summer I was in Montreal and there was an event and they did my makeup and it was awesome hehe ^_^ I'd give it a try if I were you.
