Yeah I love the dress on her! She looks great.Whitney and Mariah ruled the 90s with their ballads but time has changed a bit. Mariah is still succesful so I'm guessing she's doing something right unlike a lot of succesful 90s artists. I'm hoping for a Whitney comeback. You can tell they are warming her up to the public.. She looks great in that scan too!

Whitney Houston Announces Album Release Date!

After a seven-year hiatus, Whitney Houston will release a new album Sept. 1, her record label announced Wednesday.

Houston's seventh studio album - rumored to be titled Undefeated - will include the Diane Warren-penned "I Didn't Know My Own Strength."

Photographer Patrick Demarchelier recently worked with the singer for some promotional shots and called the day "fantastic." "She was so full of life and energy. She moved well and was in such great spirits," he said.

Houston, who divorced ex-husband Bobby Brown in 2007, has sold more than 170 million singles, albums and videos worldwide and is cited by the Guiness Book of World Records as music's "most awarded female artist of all time" with a tally of 411 awards, including six Grammys and two Emmys.

i LOVE the quote by Demarchelier! she really HAS gotten her life back together! oh, i'm so happy!!!

as a die-hard whitney-fan for the past ... 15 or so years, at least, i have really agonized over her personal life and downward spiral. but since 2006, when she finally divorced bobby brown and checked herself into a 6-MONTH rehab program, she really turned things around!

WHITNEY is a legend. and a superstar. they just don't make 'em like that anymore.

every week leading up to the album release, i'm going to post a clip of some of my favourite live performances. it'll be a present to anyone else on here who may care, and it'll keep Whitney near the top of the "music" forum, so people who are curious can come in and check it out.

we'll start right at the beginning:


This is a performance from the April 29, 1983 episode of the Merv Griffin show (even though the video info says 1985). she's performing the song, "Home" from the Diana Ross musical "The Wiz". it was 2 years before she released her debut album. Clive Davis had just discovered her and had already fallen in love and realized the great potential. very VERY rare event when a major music executive debuts an artist on a popular tv show well before they've even recorded their first song.

Whitney Houston was 19 years old here and it was her first time ever on television. you would think a person would be nervous --- but some people truly are born to be stars. and it's pretty clear that Whitney is one of 'em. her VOICE was remarkable even at age 19, not only for it's sheer power and clarity, but for her control and interpretive skills. remember, she was taught by greats, including her mother Cissy Houston, cousin Dionne Warwick and godmother Aretha Franklin.

Merv says it best when he says, "We won't forget that name! Whitney Houston!"

TONIGHT -- Whitney will deliver her first major televised performance since she began this "comeback". it'll be during the BET Awards ... and there will be TWO performances .. one as a tribute to Michael Jackson . and 1 where she debuts her new song.

apparently, she's gotten a standing ovation JUST IN REHEARSAL .. as well as had the crowd in tears!! ooooooh!!!
