Who in your opinion? Also post photos, clippings, etc.
thats a pretty tough poll dear ingi
i love them all, its too hard to choose, aminly becuase
everyone had their own special style..
i need to think before voting
Are we talking primarily historical figures or modern fashion as well?
Of the list,I am between Coco and Yves. They're all great and they all hold their place in history.
Others,I would mention would be Courreges,Kawakubo,Yamamoto,Westwood and MMM
i'm torn between Cristobal Balenciaga, Paul Poiret AND Mme Vionnet
Elisa Schiaparelli is one of my favorites, along with Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga Valentino and Givenchy. Current favorites are Miuccia Prada, Oscar de la Renta, Narciso Rodriguez, and the Missonis.
have to go with vionnet on this one. what she could do... wow.
although, coco had the best personal style ever.
Favourite designer...Yves or Christian in terms of overall designer-ness...Armani in terms of what I would personally wear and Jean Cocteau in terms of fabric-prints etc...
I'll have to go with Erte, just because he was so brilliant and multi-talented.
erhhmm ... Erte was an illustrator not a fashion designer pruple
Actually, he designed for many films, plays and operas. He also created outfits for himself, his clients and his friends. Before he began working independantly he was employed under Poiret. So yes, he was most definately a fashion designer!
he was illustrating for Poiret and many many more,
thats right but he never had his own 'house' or private clients
all the clothes for the theater were illustrations not actually his own designs..
but yes, a brilliant illustrator indeed
You're right, he never had his own house. He is a designer in my books though.
I'm not familiar with the work of many of the great historic designers. I've heard their names of course, but I'm more familiar with more recent designers. But of the names listed that I am familiar with, I'd have to say YSL. I could base that simply on his "Le Smoking" let alone all of the other things he's done.

Museu Textil i de l’Indumentària de Barcelona
I was going to vote for Balenciage, then I hit the "show" button instead of "vote" and couldn't vote after...
Barcelona? How did I miss it? I went to one textiles museum in Barca but it was dreadful...
