Nirvana or Radiohead...

Spice Girls only lasted for two of the years, released two albums, and broke up! They were huge, and I won't deny my obsession with them... but I don't think they owned the 90s by any means...

As much as I'd like to vote the Verve, of those, I'd say it's a tie between Oasis and the Spice Girls.

My votes for artists/bands not included go to Pearl Jam and Madonna.

I think if i had to pick an artist for the 90s, it would be REM. They had a good decade. I think "Automatic..." is very possibly the best album of the 90s. That album still takes me someplace when i listen to it and i've heard it so many times it's sad.

And they had a lot of great albums in the 90s - I think Green came out in 1990, Out Of Time, Monster, etc.

Though maybe i'm a bit skewed because i lived in Georgia for part of the 90s...

On the list: Oasis

Not on the list: Nirvana & Jeff Buckley.

I voted for Radiohead for lasting power, but they all rock. Except for Pulp. (because I only know one song from them.)

Out of that list I guess I'd pick Radiohead...

But I think hip hop dominated the 90's...Death Row records in the first half (Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and 2Pac, three of rap's biggest stars ever), and in the second half the east coast dominated with the likes of Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy, Mase, Jay-Z...

What,no,PJ Harvey?? Or is this only bands? But she's certainly up there in my book! :D

Also,Björk,Portishead,Sonic Youth,Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds,Tricky & Massive Attack. And Garbage was pretty strong during the late 90's.

But I vote Radiohead.

It's because it's a poll about Britpop:flower:
I'm well aware of PJ  Nirvana and co influence but I made a poll about britpoppers and forget to mention it . I'm sorry

like it or not...

i think britney spears pretty much dominated the world there for a little while...:innocent:...

and all the little boy bands....

If the poll is about britpop, Spice Girls hardly fit the genre. :p

Buttt..I guess they did sort of 'own' the nineties.

But my favourites are Pulp, Blur and Radiohead.
Oh and the Prodigy were hot in the 90's.

I love 90's music. :buzz:
