Its much harder for us common folk to simply watch the runway and then buy the knockoffs. So this thread wants to get to the bottom of it all.

for instance, who created the big sunglasses trend? and i dont mean mary kate. im strictly talking designer here.
anotehr example-the short shorts with a cuff on the end(usually plaid) that have knob type button- buckles on each side? come on, we see these everywhere!

lets find out who started what because im getting so confused here with H&M, Forever@! and ZARA copying all the originals who we dont even know who created the original?

i think this could be cool for all of us to see!

Ya, but who created it in the 60's? I want to say someone along the lines of Rochas or Cardin, since right now Rochas vintage sunglasses are in demand. Paging Theyskens.

Those cuffed shorts are very easy to trace back, to Chloe. Im almost 90% sure Chloe showed that look for S/S 04. Its a very Chloe look in general, I know they have shown cuffed shorts, with buttons? Possibly.

I'm not sure who created the look (I'm sure that Alex is right about 50's/60's rockstars), but if you look at some of Bowie's "Low" period of the mid 70's, it could easily be 2006... skinny jeans, rolled up cuffs, etc. So, maybe older rockers invented it, but Bowie made it cool (just kidding).

Okay,similar idea of your other question about the shorts.

The tourist-style shorts: No,I don't think the shorts idea can really be traced one in particular. Pheobe did do them for sure but I think alot of designers started doing about the same time. Bruno Pieters also had a verson of them three seasons ago. And I think Stella's played round with them as well.
