Wide pants and jeans

Wdie pants look great, especially with the right materials and design.
But i'm pretty short (5'1") and i don't have super long legs, so do you think i'll be able to pull it off?

yah y not..im just 1 inch taller than u and it looks perfect on me..i have one from topshop..u just have to find the right length or have it hemmed..mine just touches the floor and its the perfect length for me..

^ Ralph Lauren proves my point about distressed jeans on older folks  Just say no ...

You said it, I didn't...:innocent:

The outfit is distressing on more than one level...B)

Here is a fantastic pair I got at anthropologie. I'm petite myself (5'3") and I wear them with 3-4 in. heels and a very fitted leather jacket.

BTW, the same pants are on sale at victoriassecret.com (kinda cheesy photo though  )

I love this look, 'been rocking it since the mid 90's!

my sister is 5'2 actually ,she wears wide legs because you can hide your heels in them and nobody knows , thats why i wear em too , you can wear with flats but with heels it looks the best and plus people will think your tall, im 5'7 with my ( im 5'3) heels and i wear widelegs a lot , so for us petite girls it looks good , and mine are decently wide not crazy wide ,but thats with anything you should find a good pair of pants , have a regular rise fitted through the hips and make sure you get it hemmed if its needed . hope that helps.

I like the classic look, not the overly wide legged, as somebody did mention. But how can people who aren't size 0 wear this? I think it's harder to do than skinny jeans.

hahahaha no way , you dont want to know how many skinny jeans i tried on till i got the right one, which are siwy by the way, it was frustrating !!!! i wear em with boots im happy now but back to widepants, I have like 10 pairs of em , I got these nice ones from H&m there regular rise , I wear em to work most of time , its fashionable and looks cool and makes me feel like mary tyler moore haha lub her...but its bad ***...I hate straight leg pants , omg i hate em like any thing ,they looks so not sexy and the cut reminds me of my grandma in the 80s omg. in pants its either wide , boot cut and super skinny , straight leg is ugly ie carrot cut.

I  the wide pants Jessica and Maria is wearing!

I'm one of the people who feel that wide and flared is sexy. These looks are very well for those who can look best in them. I've complimented gaucho pants and palazzo pants for their flared and outward apperance. Many of the wide-leggers I've seen here are very nice. I seem to favor the palazzo-type pants Golden Butterfly mentioned in Post #48 with the lady wearing the green tank top.

Depending upon your style, some cork wedge sandals, high-heel pumps or boots, or even some sneakers would compliment the look. I haven't seen too many wide denim jeans or pants here, but that's where I'd go for some sneakers. A tight top with wide denim jeans/pants and with chunky sneakers would be wholly casual and wholly cool. Most other wide-legs seems to favor more dressy types. I'd go with something that has heels to it. Anything from low-heels to high-heels sort of work best for this, since I don't really see flats working well for this look.

I like this look as a whole.

Wide - Legged Jeans

I love that it's coming back! Where can I get nice ones? My old wide-legged jeans from years past don't fit me anymore. :(

i love the high waisted wide legged jeans with the whole bohemian look. pyschedelic button down shirts with long jane birkin hair.

I love this

A couple pair of Robert Rodriguez that have treated me well this winter...
and a new high waisted purchase by Nanette Lepore. They are not the exact picture, but similar with the faintest pinstripe.

Will this look good on big girls? Or no? I am under the impression that one's gotta have slim waist to pull this off. Or am I wrong?

I'm not sure bout that..but it does hug pretty tightly on the waist and I always end up feeling like I have a big tummy even though I'm stick thin  I love this look though

Of course............they are perfect for big girls coz they create a leaner line , it hides your flaws , your thinking of high waisted pants (big no no for big girls) , low or mid rise wide leg pants are in abundunce out there , and they are great coz they dont hug your thighs and are really comfy and chic . But as with all pants you have try them out and make sure the are fit at the waist and butt area......balance it with a lean top or shirt which you can belt at your waist ( not cinched waist ) , this will make you look slimmer .......

^Thanks. :) I guess I'll go check out this style. Hope this works for me. I'm unlucky in that I'm the reverse of the usual women's pear shape. I have big upper body, big tummy, and relatively slimmer legs.

Welcome to the realm of wide-legged pants, Miss Melisande. I've eased up on skinny jeans for those who do it right (like some of my friends at school). I've always said that where skinny fails, there's always wide. There's also one other plus of wide-legged pants and jeans- tucking pants into boots for when there's really no functional need is out of the question. The flare and drape of most wide-legged pants really attracts to me. Which is why I loved gaucho pants on ladies. Which is why I've loved most bellbottoms with extreme flares. Too bad the '70s aren't part of some 20-year cycle. At least '70s fashion can still work today.

I do admit can be pretty sexy (I don't use this word too much) to wear something tight or slinky up top in addition to wide-legged pants or jeans. I don't like any sort of tomboy look, however. And fear not, petites. I've seen some short ladies look very nice in wide-legged pants and jeans. Some classy pant looks were pulled off by those ladies who dressed up. So fear not. Let your legs breathe. Ditch the skinnies. Ditch having to tuck such jeans into boots unless it's for some functional purpose. Experiement with wide legs.
