May 24, 2007 – The Fall collections found designers letting their imaginations take flight—literally. At Balmain, Christophe Decarnin struck a goth note with his bat-embellished sheath, but overall, things went winging in a more romantic direction. Translucent tails hung from Erin Fetherston's minidresses, while butterflies festooned the neck of a dress at Erdem. Benjamin Cho pursued a similar effect, though in his case he fashioned the delicate creatures out of industrial zippers. To Issa designer Daniella Helayel, "butterflies represent freedom. They're my favorite thing to observe." She's not kidding: Helayel just decorated her house with more than 100 framed butterflies she found on the Portobello Road. Eat your heart out, Damien Hirst.

It's beautiful to me. I find birds, wings etc to be very calming.

yes me too,

I like how this seasons butterflies and stuff aren't made in a 'pretty' and 'cute' way, it's more dark and grown up which I like

Thanks for the link Hanne =), I love feathery lashes for editorial use

It's sorta cute. :) It'll be nice to see this on print (editorials).

I've never been such a big fan of light and airy, but this is beautiful! I think that to counterpoint the 'sweetness' of the butterfly motif, it needs to be applied to something that looks more structured, or has a darker edge, rather than a full-on romantic look.

I'm seeing double. Is that black and yellow satin dress Junko Shimada or Lie Sand Bong?

I agree with Saan - its great to see these with out them all being cute and girly - slightly darker and edgier makes them much more palatable.

this reminds me of my butterfly obsession back in fifth grade. i had this peasant top with multicolored butterflies haha. i like the look in simple monochromatic colors now though

looks quite nice... like Erdem's a lot :) I wonder how Erin Fetherson and Vera Wang did theirs.. looks kind of quilted

saann thanks for the thread, but oh you posted the same outfit for Sand Bong and Shimada
