Hola,

I went to the Diane Von Furstenberg sample sale yesterday in New York and they had some pretty good things! I came away with a Boka wrap dress, a Claren dress (each $150), and a pencil skirt with ruffles ($80). I wanted to pick up a pair of leopard ballet flats, but decided not to at the last minute. The crowd and lines were pretty crazy, but I think it was worth the trouble :)

Here's the nymag.com listing of the DVF sample sale:

12/12–12/15 Diane von Furstenberg’s wrap dresses, cable-knit sweaters, and wide-legged herringbone pants are marked down 45 to 75 percent; ballet flats are now $70. 260 Fifth Ave., nr. 28th St. (212-725-5400); 12/12 (9–7); 12/13 (10–7); 12/14 (10–8); 12/15 (9–3).

Congrats! I love DFV, but I don't have a store near by!

I have a question about private sales, does that mean that's it's for friends and family only? If not, then how does it work?

Does anyone here know when Dover Street Market is gonna start the official sale or presale? :)

Harrods-27th Dec
Harvey Nichols-27th Dec
Bottega Veneta (London Boutique)-Presale ON! 30~40%off on selected items
Chloe (London Sloane Store)-Presale ON! Autumn/Winter 40%off

Selfridges London private and pre- sales 30-40% off! Anyone Matches online or more reductions for Yoox??? Many thanks!

private sale and friends & family are generally two different things. f&f is for people that know or are related to associates and get a special discount for a few days. private sale is normally an invitation to better clients to allow first picking before the sale breaks. this isnt always the case though, as places hungry for business will tell just about anyone about them.

Matches have started their sale today.

^ yeah, I know.;):p I have already ordered a Marc by Marc Jacobs coat that I've had my eye on for some time.:D Even with a discount its way over priced for what it is but its sold out in the States and I like it!:ninja: Be ware though the website itself has is having some technical hitches and the phone lines are v. busy.

Congrats on the coat! :D

yeah.. the sale isen't very good either, I called them about the things I wanted and none of them were going on sale.

When does the browns website go on sale?

Maybe the things you're after at Matches are on sale uniquely at the boutiques? - I was looking for their Bottega coats but couldn't find them either...Typically, stores like Browns and Matches go on sale the day after Boxing Day, the 27th of December.

I think Browns was having a private sale in-store but like alot of posters I don't find the selection of Browns all that - it has nothing of the buying brilliance of Colette for example - so I didn't jump at anything. Plus I am financially hindered for the first 3 months of the year by a new Birkin purchase. Thank God - the Spring/Summer collections weren't all that or else I'd have to be tranquillised or explode from Shopper's frustration!

I don't like the matches-site online, they don't have that much. there's like 100.000 things i want on browns though, but i think that they charge more on stuff than lvr, for example. So mostly the stuff i want have to be at least 50% of, i think. What about urbanoutfitters, when do they start their online-sale?

I'm not sure Grill, I guess that would make sense.. only on sale in store.
I was after one of the big Bottega woven shopper bags, but the person I spoke to said they will not go on sale at all and that's why they were taken off the website.

The sales are so much better in the US.. when stuff gets marked down to 50% here, there is never anything that's really worth buying.

no worries pucci, those woven totes are never on sale in the States either. :flower:

Barneys will start 60% off on rtw this Thursday. You can put things on hold now:) I'm not sure when the shoe markdown will follow though.

Thanks for letting me know Caffeine.^_^:flower:

I was after the one's with gold hardware I know the cabas style never go on sale, but the one's with gold hardware are for this season, so I thought they might do.. I've seen the white version on sale at the bottega website.

For the next sale I will be in the US that's for sure.

I'm waiting for the NAP sale, there are some items I might pick up there. ^_^

^ Your so right about the US sales Pucci. I hope they'll be as good next year as they were this - I might ask my hubby if we could go there either for the Spring or Winter sales. As for sales in Paris they aren't all that either - as they typically start so late that there's very little time to enjoy any Winter purchases. Also things rarely get marked down below the 50% mark and when they are high end items they are often so shop soiled - i.e. Lanvin and Chloe dresses in the grands magasins. - that there's no point in buying. Also I blame YOOX for the end of Colette's super sales - they used to mark down to 75% now it rests at 50% and then everything gets shipped off to Yoox where the prices revert to pre-sale costs for lots of things especially my beloved Marc Jacobs mainline.

By the way, I love the Bottega Veneta woven shopper too - it's a classic and that's probably why it won't go on sale particularly if it's in a non-seasonal colour. Why don't you try to get one from Italy? The prices will probably justify a little trip?? I adore the shopper with the little strap thingy which they're bringing back for this season, if it weren't for the Birkin I'd definitely get one:flower:

Thanks for the input Grill! So they are a bit cheaper in Italy? I never actually thought of that! Makes sense..I can't afford too by one at retail price atm. with all the christmas gift shopping I am quite broke, but thanks for the tip I will keep that in mind for the coming year, as like you said the catwalks weren't that good, so it might be a good time to invest in a Bottega.:)

And congrats on your Birkin!:woot:
