Save yourself the money and get neither. Get these:

You won't see the upper portions of any of these when you wear them anyways!

yeah... just get the chucks and paint them white... simple as that ;)

I love chucks but I have 7 pairs of them
I got already these Kashura and I think I'll save money for a power book 12''

the yohji and dior "chucks" don't have the circle-and-star logo on the ankles like the real chucks do.....to achieve the yohji/dior look you'd have to paint over it so the shoe is in total, minimalistic, white glory............

^ i agree. i actually like the chucks covered in gesso or house paint. i've been thinking recently of purchasing some shoes and doing exactly that....

Oooooh, Chucks covered in gesso...I might have to try that some day.

Sounds rather margiela-ish. But I like the idea and have thought of trying it before on the shoes that I never wear anymore. Still to lazy to start doing anything though.

Yohji and CdG have already been doing "converse" sneakers on and off for many years. And I actually like the CdG ones with the pointy toes. At least there is an attempt to do something to the shoes rather than just changing the brand name.

Margiela has also done some classic leather shoes that were totally painted in white, much like his painted jeans.

if i were to do it i'd probably go w/ a pointy shoe like the Cdg ones..and i'd even mix it w/ a little bit of sand to create texture and leave the loose hair of the paint brush (they would inevietably be mixed in) as far as painting shoes are are no longer worn..if the shoe was falling apart you could wrap those bits in duct tape and gesso over them..the rough edges of the tape would create the effect of what these shoes look like. you could also paint a bottom coat of a really bright color and then a top coat of white and let some of the bottom coat peek through. the top coat could be a really thick layer and you could sand paper the coat down so there would be various layers of paint/ shoe exposed. you could also have a very pure white (gesso) and then splatter it w/ off white paint for subtley. or..take steel wool and scrape it in various places.
