Yohji Yamamoto

that book seems quite rare and hard to find and quite spectacular...

:crush:

I've asked this elsewhere, but I have a deep-cut inquiry that no one can answer...

Does anyone have the list of pre-collection letters (2nd character of the product code)?

It's easy to find the list of letters for the main collections, but I've been trying to figure out the pre-collection (and second delivery) letters, and that hasn't been easy. I thought that there must be AT LEAST one dedicated Yohji collector who has been collecting those since the 2000s.

I'm mostly looking for the period between 2008 and 2015. You can find all letters on the Yohji website since 2015, but not before that.

Thank you!

maybe members like wire.artist, fashion.fashoff would not drop by any more here.
softgrey is not a collector even though she could be a yohji hunter.

could you be a bit more specific? Y's ? or femme and homme?

For the period I'm looking for, only Y's should have had pre-collections (or, at least, non-main season items). Almost every line was discontinued after the bankruptcy, aside from the main lines (which do not use the alternate seasonal code) and Y's.

Someone sent me the line sheets of the pre-collections from 2008 and 2009, from which I was able to get some of the letters.

For example, YQ-... appeared at the top of the Spring/Summer 2008 pre-collection line sheet for Y's. Therefore, Q was used for the Spring/Summer 2008 pre-collection. This is different from the Spring/Summer 2008 main collection, which used M instead.

If you look at the current Yohji Yamamoto website, you will see that 3 different letters have been used every season for the last decade.

(part of) regulation is practically there as pre-collection for femme/homme shops. sort of subcategory though. what comes in the same shopper and arrives between the last delivery and the first delivery. maybe CDH too.

anyway will try searching for Y's for that period.

That's exactly how I was able to find all the pre-collection letters since 2013! By some miracle, the product codes were listed every season on the Regulation website, which I accessed through the Wayback Machine. What I found is that, every season, Regulation used two different letters: the main season letter and an inter-seasonal letter.

Unfortunately, Regulation was launched for the Spring/Summer 2013 collection, so I can't use this to find the inter-seasonal letters before that. To complicate things further, I've been finding 2 letters per inter-seasonal period until Spring/Summer 2015. It seems like the inter-seasonal letter used by Regulation differed from the pre-collection letter until then.

For example, for Spring/Summer 2014, the main letter was "G", while Regulation also used the letter "I" that season. However, I found evidence that "M" was used for the Spring/Summer 2014 pre-collection. Similarly, for Autumn/Winter 2014-15, the main letter was "F", while Regulation also used the letter "H", although "V" seems to have been used for the pre-collection. Then, for Spring/Summer 2015, the main letter was "U", while Regulation also used the letter "J", although "E" seems to have been used for the pre-collection.

After Spring/Summer 2015, the secondary/non-main letter used by Regulation matches the pre-collection letter. And since the pre-collections seemingly started in Spring/Summer 2008... I'm trying to figure out the period between 2008 and 2015.

you'd come across limi's line called trace. it's also a kind of pre-collection since 2004.
so it might be possible to get the codes through its products.

so, sorry to say I was not able to find the list.
but found this site had mentioned they were going to talk about pre-collection codes. although apparently they have not done it yet, probably they know them. maybe worth asking.

また、Y's、Y's for menなどのブランドラインには「RESORT」「PRE-FALL」コレクションがあり、それぞれに品番が充てられているためより複雑な品番の判別方法となります。

「RESORT」「PRE-FALL」の品番は別の機会にご紹介したいと思います。

unfortunately I'm not a collector. I don't have many YY inc pieces in the first place. but there are lots of YY wearers out there who know more than YY flagship managers. most of them don't write online somehow while they only read. hopufully some of them jump in here.
