blingbling, you're right... Shawshank had such a beautiful, yet still heartbreaking, ending... no movie has moved me as much as that one, I would have to say.
Dirty Dancing still have a great ending. I watched that dance sequence at the end over and over and over again when I was younger.

city lights & manhatten. - a whole monologue told by a face.
queen christina. - that close-up of greta garbo's enigmatic face is iconic.
reflecting skin. - that picture of the little boy crying in desperate anger in the fields is similarly impressive and very memorable.
the lady from shanghai. - who could forget that ending.
greed. - it still gives me shivers when i think about it
[spoiler: macteague killed his wife trina and ran off with the money, he flees into the desert where his former friend marcus follows him, they fight and macteague kills marcus only to realize marcus had handcuffed them together, then the camera zooms away and you see him standing there in the middle of the desert, between his dead friend and the money of his dead wife, his horse dead, his waterbottle empty, and his beloved pet bird fell down into the sand dead after he let it free.]
the third man & la strada. - just.. so.. sad.
