YSL "L’Homme Libre" Fragrance : Benjamin Millepied

the worst thing is that the concept and colours would have worked with a better model and pose. I get that 1990's urban vibe from it sort of Miami Vice meets sleepless in Seattle

So if you wear this fragrance, you will get to sleep with hot chicks like Natalie Portman and ride their coattails to the top?

I am guessing that is the concept of the ad. As for the pose, I can only guess they were trying to do something ballet-related as that was his profession before being a kept man, but the shot is too close to tell what they were trying to achieve.

i know, but the brand head still have part of control, right? it's about the brand image.

I've read somewhere that it is the marketing girls at L'Oreal who brain storm YSL launches where the focus is more on the image rather than the product itself as they choose the celebrity face then they force the 'noses' to create safe & boring 'juices' as in 'Parissene, Belle de Opium & L'NUIT de L'Homme' ,,,

but when it comes to styling & dressing they refer to the fashion house.

I don't like the ad. It's simply not YSL.

Although the ad looks much better in actual print version, it's still lacking. Besides, they did a really amateur job placing him in front of that backdrop.
