SoCal - I believe Nicole's Mombasa is the east-west version of the basic style and is still availabel, saw it about two months again in the YSL store in Singapore.

amanada - I have flown international with the mombasa before, there's no problems with the customs, no need for your friend to worry.

taz..I agree with you, besides the original mombasa, the malamala black horn is my next favourite! They are absolutely beautiful, but I couldn't get them then as I was still in college....

amanda - I took my mombasa from Singapore to US. Hope it'll work out fine for yours!!

Has anyone seen this style Mombasa in the states anywhere? I am dying to get this east/west version with the flat bottom, not the hobo style. I know there's one on bluefly but it's the small size, 12x8. Thanks!

know nothing about mombasa's, but i saw a blush colored one yesterday at YSL that was so beautiful. the guy said it was "special edition" tho don't they always say that?

i love the combo of the blush leather and antler handle, and would've totally gotten it if it looked a little more suitable for holding by hand or arm...

(the clandestine is working in mysterious ways in my mind.)

My Mombasa bag is 3 years old...it loks just like Nicole Richie's...I got it from Saks...my friend Leigh-Ann bought one in late 2004...call around...to Neiman's and Saks...everyone should know the bag...there are a few on Ebay...I'm not sure about the authenticity ....good luck I hope you find it...I love mine

Luxx- I was at Saks in Beverly Hills on Friday and they had the Vicennes (in white) on display in the YSL section. It was really beautiful, especially the gilt handle. It's probably still there; maybe you can call and have them transfer it to the Saks in NY.
