LEG MAN: Zac Posen had fashion followers in a tizzy when he sent models down the runway last February wearing Wolford knit tights with openwork Swarovski crystal appliqués of his own design. Due to popular demand, Wolford has collaborated with the designer to produce the tights. Dubbed Imperial Legs, the tony tights come in either black or gray and are enclosed in an oval-shaped box designed by Posen. Photographer Sante D'Orazio shot Posen posse member and actress Paz de la Huerta in a striking pose to coincide with the legwear launch. A limited run of 99 pairs will be available, for a mere $500 each, at Wolford boutiques worldwide and Bergdorf Goodman starting in September.

Look how they bunch at the toe where they come in contact with the pump ... should that be happening for $500? I think not ... :P Imperial legs, indeed

How would someone wear those...and where?

that's more likely the shoe than the tights...imo... ^_^

personally, i think its a great idea, and a cool update for the ol nylons

Just not my thing... not even on models.

And surely not for that much money

Now that´s what I call a delicate garment... you´ll be more than p*ssed off if you´d catch a run with one of those :bunny:...

hmm...
i think i'd wear them actually...but not with pumps....
with blk suede ankle boots maybe...
but they'd have to be a gift...
i couldn't respect myself if i spent $500 on hosiery...:ninja:...

It´s not that I´d say they are ugly, but I´d bet that people like Jonathan Saunders, Eley Kishimoto, Comme des Garcons or Yohji Yamamoto would do better with hosiery... I don´t find these to be very naturally looking, probably because the rhinestones stand out too much from the plum surface...

Poser is such a twit.

Btw, tights usually don't run ... it's more often death by snagging. In this case you would have the added hazard of the little jewels popping off & ruining the pattern. Or catching on something & making a hole. I'd never pay $500 for tights even if I did like the idea of all that crap on my legs ...

They're pretty cool, but nothing I would ever wear, even if I could blow $500 on a pair of stockings.

OTOH, I could see making a "faux" pair by stretching tights out on forms and doing little dots of metallic fabric paint in the desired pattern.

Decent tights are hella tough. I've got some pairs that I wore in highschool that I still have and wear sometimes, and I graduated in 1995  About the only time I actually wreck a pair of tights is if I do something mad like trip and fall on concrete stairs and then not only are my tights ruined, so is the skin on my knees!

I actually quite like the pattern and idea, but not the price tag. really not worth it. however, i agree with AYLI, think one could buy a pair of tights and put metallic paint or rhinestones on them in a desired pattern for the same effect

thats a good one!Icouldnt respect anything either myself .........so i agree with (softgrey)
Gosh!!$500!!! :woot:
