Christian Dior 1996-2002 : The John Galliano Early Years

Love this show! Thank you for posting. Such a great soundtrack - no surprise!

Love these early 2000's collection from Dior - love the mix of the street, the music scene, and the atelier, all rolled up into one sweaty, sl*tty package. So fantastic. There's so much energy in the production - set, lighting, music, casting, hair and makeup - fashion just doesn't have that same electricity anymore.
Couldn't have said it better. It was grand. Looking back I am just really glad he gave us all this. It was a constant travel, a real mixture of influences and emotions. Really miss this world. Although I really respect Raf vision, I miss this mixture of life and elegance, innovation and fun

In this design, John Galliano for Dior combined the elements of a robe à la française with the vast crinolined silhouettes of the mid-nineteenth century. The stomacher, open overskirt, and petticoat are expressly eighteenth century, but the huge wired cages that support the skirts over nine feet wide are constructed more like the hoops of the Second Empire than the discrete by comparison panniers of the ancien régime. While the eighteenth-century woman could at least sidle through a doorway, Galliano's beauties, because of the depths of their skirts, would have to torque and deform their hoops to squeeze their way through.

I'm not sure why firstview has suddenly chosen to repost this collection, but I can't say that I am upset by the decision.
