I've been thinking about furniture for outdoors
ie- decks and patios, etc...

post your favourites here...

i'll start...
my deck is pretty small and in an urban environment...
so this folding aluminum chair is perfect...
love the simple lines and the industrial feel...
also looks like it will be low maintenance in terms of the elements...
and the price is nice-$24.99

i love outdoor furniture that looks so good that it can function indoors...
these pieces from west elm are nice...
the table and chairs are metal and are weather-resistant, and the table can hold an umbrella...
i also love the david hicks-esque design...

the lounger seats two, has 3 positions, and is made of weather-resistant wood...plus the cushions are washable and come in 5 colors...

now if only i had a yard!

yesss!!!

great thread

soft that aluminum chair is great... a modern take on a traditional shape i think ^_^

and kimair i love that first blue and white set
the geometric design on the chair and table combined with the white and blue color combination reminds me of greece and the beautiful islands there...
definitely a good thing :flower:

I like emeco all the time
it's beautiful plus simple and sturdy quality.
and I have a weakness for aluminum.

runner...love the emeco chair...
alot of outdoor restaurants here use those for their outdoor seating...

chrissy...i totally agree about the blue and white...very soothing...
which is exactly what you want when you're relaxing outdoors...:P

cushions just make me mental with outdoor furniture though...
there is always the issue of where do you store them?...
they are bulky and take up a lot of room- but you can't leave them outside...

such a dilemma...:ermm:...

^^ i know what you mean

we've got cushions on the set we have outside on our porch..
yet we're always shuttling them in and out of the house to avoid the rain and other elements..
so annoying

There was a little outdoor furniture feature at the end of issue 66 of Surface.. which I finally got around to finishing flipping through

So, here are some of the things they featured...

Tatu by Stephen Burks...
Galvanized steel, powder coated furniture..
stools/tables..

I thought these looked cool and could be interesting as outdoor furniture...

side table, coffee table, and stool...

an additional image... looks like you can store stuff within the tables..

maybe that's where you would keep your bug spray or something like that if you used these outdoors :P

^^ i love the outdoor pic of that one!

it almost looks like a huge extension cord that's been kind of electrified into the shape of a seat...

or like charlie brown scribbles... does that make sense.. :P
i'm thinking of pig pen a little bit.. if that's what his name was..
i'm digressing

Thanks, softgrey! :flower:

I've been looking for some low cost patio chairs that are simple and silver in color and those Ikea folding chairs are perfect!

After a baffling 12 years (minus two away in London) in our current appartment.. we're MOVING!
..a whooping 1,8 km away ..so that we'll have more space and Storm can attend the school we want her in in a years time.

There's a private rooftop terrace that's 23m2 (looking at the drawings I can only make it out to be 19m2) - that's approx 205-250sq ft and I just know I want a hammock.. but other than that I can't figure out what I want to do with the space (apart from obviously creating a lush mini garden) ..it's the furniture part that baffles me..

The building is new.. so it should be obvious to put modern furniture there..

I like the argentinian bat chair..but go figure.. hubby doesn't ..

Metal seems to be the way to go with modern urban space..
Very practical..But I'd like it to be cosy and inviting at the same time..

What direction to take the space in?
