The book? Yes! It took an entitled assistant to write a fairly mediocre (but entertaining) book to create that phenomenon lol

The inspiration was Russian matryochka nesting dolls, but I think it came out wrong. People online say it looks like a condom.

Not that I know of, that was it.

One thing that I miss from back in the days was the competitive aspect of fashion. They mostly all hated each others and were super competitive.

This also reminded me of a book I skimmed by another WWD editor/journalist, James Brady. I haven't read the whole book, but there's a funny description of a party in Paris he threw and it sounded so. Awkward. Everyone basically avoided each other the entire evening. The only designer everyone got along with in the story was Gerard Pipart.

There are lots of great random photos on Getty Images now that the WWD archives have (mostly) been uploaded.

The Dior Spring/Summer 1973 couture advance shot at the Dior maison... while it was undergoing some sort of repair/renovations.
