Richard Chai, whose signature collection is on hiatus, plays with silhouettes and proportions for a terrific Richard Chai Love collection, which works silky fabrics into breezy dresses and blouses with subtle volume (see a lovely white dress with a scarflike collar). Gray, brown and cream are consistent throughout the lineup; sleeves are slightly rumpled, while cuffs are rolled up. With retail prices largely less than $500, Chai’s secondary line has all the chicness of his first without the sticker shock.
