Fashion photography is made to sell a product. While I am a big a fan of fashion photography for its stunning visual and "the skys the limit"in creativity, I dont feel that it has changed the world or anything. Some photographers work have done just that.

In terms of going the distance, no one does it better than Steve Meisel. But when it comes to the more nostalgic effect, Annie Leibovitz does it best.

Josef Kudelka
Sally Mann

German fashion photographer

I have the impression that under the top fashion photographers, there are many with at least German roots: F.C. Gundlach, Ellen von Unwerth, Helmut Newton, Chris von Wangenheim, Sibille Bergemann... But maybe that's just my selective perception, as I'm German myself. What do you think?
