This was the year that I started buying UK Vogue - every issue, every month - and I was in awe, because it had such astonishing covers and editorials with supermodels who really did seem out-of-this-world, but in a womanly way, not the alien way of today's girls.

I had been buying UK Elle the year before, so had already been introduced to glamazons like Yasmeen Ghauri on the cover, styled to look full of street confidence - but Vogue took the same girls to a dimension above that.
