Woman Shopping for Wholesale Jewelry
Self service in wholesale jewelry is the idea started by Juno Products of Cleveland. Wholesale buyers, like Mrs. Kay Adkins (above) of Newton Falls, Ohio, stroll among the shelves and load shopping baskets with jewelry items displayed in plastic cases. Purchases are taken to a check out counter and paid for like groceries at a supermarket. More than 2,500 jewelry items are displayed and stocks are kept up by employees working behind the shelves like automat workers. Owner Eric Weinberger says clients are buying more than four times the amount they purchased before.

Second Pink and Red Versailles Ball
Original caption: 10/28/1954-New York, New York- Prominent members of the social and diplomatic circles of New York and Washington dine and dance at the Waldorf-Astoria's Starlight Roof during the Second Annual Pink and Red Versailles Ball. The entertainment, arranged by the American Friends of Versailles, took place in a setting of 16th century tapestries and silver horses, festooned with carved candelabras. The event was held to raise money for the restoration of the Historical Royal Chateau near Paris.
