they look like they are exquisitely made...like sculpture...
though i am not sure that i like the toe...
it's quite long, and narrow, is it not?

Thanks for posting, runner. I've been thinking about men's shoes a lot in recent weeks, as my husband's in dire need of new ones. The loafers and plain laceups look good, and I like the angled toe on the monkstrap pair.

Does "new directions" mean new designers, or new owners? (This is Silvio Lattanzi's company, right...?)

softgrey, yes they are well made, hand sewn.
and yes it can be relatively long and narrow. but I think it's not really quite so.
and probably it's super comfortable to walk in, just like it had been, although I haven't tried on any of this new collection yet.
the long nose style has been one of the characteristics of zintala.
for example, the subtle narrowness and then a dent and lace-up placed rather backward might create the visual illusion that makes it look quite long,
like a long nose/little cockpit placed backward/short tailed sports car.

this pair below is zintala, not zintala1971. but the last looks like the same as the boots in #3 from "vintage" line of the 1971 collection.

you are welcome droogist
right, not new owners (though something tells me united arrows might be involved in this project, financially or in some other way)
instead, behind the project there is a man who runs a consulting company, noriyasu matsumura, it is under his directions.
before around 2000, zintala was not so popular (at least over here) since it's a serious hand sewn welt shoemaker.
of course there was usually something slightly funny design-wise so that it didn't look too serious/classic.
but the process and price were just serious.
so he persuaded lattanzi into the introduction of the machine to part of the process and making more accessible shoes. it was successful. after several years it got back to the total hand-sewn again though.
in that way lattanzi knew him and I guess lattanzi can trust him with it now.

OK, thanks a lot runner, I think I understand now. So is Zintala1971 for the Japanese market only?

sorry I'm not sure, but that man must have thought it should be available worldwide, so probably...
I'll ask about it when I get to talk to him.

so it's available only in japan droogist
at least for this season. right now they are planning to sell it overseas.

That's what I thought...thanks a lot for getting back to me, runner.

off topic:

if you are still looking for some mens plain shoe droogist, margiela is going to sell nice and simple one for F/W 10, just for reference, and now that there is no good zintala news yet for you.
it seems that it's the work of ex berluti shoemaker.

Thank you runner - you are very attentive! I've always liked Margiela's men's footwear, and that one looks very good. (This season, however, I think mr. droogist should buy his own shoes, as a few months ago I was a kind and generous wife and bought him a pair of Carpe Diem derbies.)
