Though I was never familiar with his work, it seems very intresting and the sad thing is he died during the time he was going to make a comeback (as Ms. Rotfield stated at the party.)
French Vogue’s Emmanuelle Alt and Carine Roitfeld, in Loris Azzaro.
A Fashion Legend Passes Away
The 70 year old Tunisian-born designer Loris Azzaro died last week
in Paris. Mr. Azzaro was famous for creating sexy, glamorous and
body-skimming gowns that reached their height of popularity in the
70s and 80s. Some of the stars that favored Mr. Azzaro's draped
bustiers, sheer layers and use of sparkling beads and rhinestones
were stars like Marisa Berenson, Raquel Welch, Claudia Cardinale,
Sophia Loren and Isabelle Adjani. His clothes have had a small
revival this year, as red carpet divas like Nicole Kidman and Liz
Hurley have been sporting his vintage styles. But the most
definite sign of a comeback occurred when French Vogue Editor in
Chief Carine Roitfeld wore an Azzaro dress to the Vogue party
during Paris fashion week last October. We advise that you hop
onto Ebay now, before prices shoot through the roof.
