seems like Victor Demarchelier was a little inspired by Harri Peccinotti's Pirelli Calendar.

Absolutely. In fact, Peccinotti just shot for the Issue Zero of 7 POST, due out during Paris Fashion Week. The shoot is one of his first forays with a digital camera. Peccinotti is also joint AD with Steve Hiett of 7 POST, which is the first interactive review of its kind.
