It was nearly five years ago that I met my fiancé while I was wearing a Proenza Schouler bustier. We’ll never know for sure, but I think it had something to do with the whole thing working out. Date dressing is an important skill; you never know, he might just be the one. With Valentine’s Day nearing, I was excited to ask 22-year-old model Abbey Lee about her theories. “If I have to go on a date and don’t know the person, I try to show as much of who I am—my true self—through my dress,” says Lee. Right now, she has a boyfriend, which only slightly changes the equation. “It’s more about spending time together,” she says. “The depth of the conversation and your comfort is the thing that changes the most.” What is her ideal date look? A Gucci suit jacket, a Givenchy short dress, Isabel Marant thigh-high black suede boots, and a Chanel clutch. You can substitute certain vintage pieces in the equation: a red velvet low-back dress, a large fake-fur animal-print jacket with a fluffy white collar, or a patchwork handbag from Thailand. “I’m into printed things that have some sort of crazy cut, strange material, or color, and textured clothing.” This fixation is an important part of the caveat emptor equation. You have to dress as yourself, “so it’s clear from the beginning who you are,” Lee says. She’s careful to show off a little eccentricity. “I guess it’s a warning,” she says, laughing. “An eccentric person isn’t easy to be around all the time.”

So New York fashion week FW 2010 has kicked off and no you won't be seeing me. It's the first one I've missed since I started backstage but, I'm sorry, I can't imagine adding three feet of snow to an already crazy-busy stressful week.

So, in lieu of posting a pic of me laying in the sun on the beach down here in Miami, I'm giving you a shot from two of my favorite sweeties- Abbey Lee Kershaw and Kasia Struss from one of their very many fittings, who will be sending more pics throughout the week (we'll see how long that lasts.)

Hopefully it will last all fashion week :D

she was so beautiful there :heart:
