Boys In Bedrooms

Boys by Girls has always been very passionate about "the boy". Don't get us wrong, we love fashion. It's pretty. But we also love people, and our hearts lie in capturing stories. As early as issue 2 we took an approach in capturing our models in their home environment. Now at issue 6, this is still an important part of what we do. There is nothing more powerful than capturing someone's story when in their most personal space, where they are the most vulnerable. Often; the bedroom. So for issue 6 "The Truth About Boys", we created a challenge to all female photographers to capture a boy in his bedroom.

From all the submissions received we selected our ten favorite images that we thought really captured a story, showed something about who the boy was and was simply really beautiful. The ten images create a special feature in the issue we are very proud of, and gives a unique insight into these boys' world. This is part of a bigger vision we have of documenting the modern boy of today, how he lives and what he surrounds himself with.

The below is only a teaser of the full series. You'll get stuck in these images for a while, exploring each story they have to tell. Whether it is details like the teddybear they have had since they were young, their artwork that decorates the walls or the mess under their bed, the feature is a raw capture of their truth. Each image holds a unique and beautiful story, inviting us into the boy's worlds for a moment or two. Expanding on this we will be releasing the full stories behind these gorgeous images every Friday.
