Air is my absolute favorite band, perhaps of all time even. Their music is spans in scope from haunting and ethereal to light and fun. Its really just incredible. Their style is very unique, one can hear various influences, from Pink Floyd to Burt Bacharach to Serge Gainsbourg, within their music.
They have also contributed heavily to alot of other neat projects including Charlotte Gainsbourg's album and the soundtracks of Sofia Coppola's films. I like their collaborations as they're always choice. Even and especially the artists they choose to work with on their albums. Their songs with Beck and Francoise Hardy are brilliant in my book.
From Wiki:
Air is a French duo, consisting of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel. The two studied architecture at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Versailles before forming a band in 1995. Their debut EP, Premiers Symptômes, was followed by the critically acclaimed album Moon Safari, the re-release of Premiers Symptômes, The Virgin Suicides (soundtrack), 10,000Hz Legend, Everybody Hertz, and Talkie Walkie.
J.B. & Nic solo & with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Nigel Godrich & Jarvis Cocker
You can hear some of their music on their official site or on their MySpace.
