I feel like this direction is not intuitive enough, everything feels way too overworked yet it still requires editing. At least it's not as weird as the previous collection which had, well, really questionable pieces. Here the worst look is the mirrored bodysuit, it's just vile. That being said, after watching the show I believe there is some potential in Pieter working for Alaia. Some of the pieces are really intriguing in a good way, they just shouldn't have been so overthought.
Looks sloppy and rushed...and those words don´t belong at Alaïa!
Most part of the collection feels like he just wrapped the fabrics over the models in the last minute, before the show began.
He just tries to recreate the Alaïa codes again and again. But he manages to make everything look like a caricature of Azzedine, instead of a tribute to him.
Mulier said he’d been “obsessed with a 1984 show, which not many people know, because Azzedine was basically draping with viscose, and also draping with leather.”
I've never thought much of Peter Muller's talent and ability as a designer. I hated his work on Dior and Calvin.
This is better than last time, but that's not saying much.
You have a very unskilled designer taking the reigns of a house founded by one of the MOST skilled designers of all time and the results are about what you'd expect.
While there are a few decent looks, most of it looks messy and confused. Like a fashion student who accidentally discovered that if you drape a piece of cloth on the body at a diagonal that it might start to look like something pleasing but mistook their happy accident as actual design.
This is total amateur hour.
And the styling is a f*cking mess. I can't believe the fashion media is eating this sh*t up.
I have to say, I wish he never told us which collection inspired him because it just...... makes it look worse. And looking at those pics, I get the impression that Muller completely misses "the point" of Alaïa.
I feel that the only true reason that Muller I so well received was because Alaia did that whole pretentious "I show when I want to show" thing that lead to him being financially successful, but disliked by the press and his peers.
