There’s an energy, a dynamism that I really enjoy about Alexandre Vauthier.
It’s fun, sexy and unpretentious.
Unlike Alexis Mabille, he sure know how to choose his fabrics. The velvet is sumptuous! The tailoring, particularly in that white suit, is perfect. It’s both fitted perfectly while oversized but the fluidity of the fabric does not make it look heavy…
I love the variety in terms of fabrics. There’s this thing about Vauthier that we don’t see a lot nowadays: he uses his Couture to really showcase his savoir faire. On one hand, it’s great because we can see that he nails both the flou and the tailoring but on the other hand, it feels overwhelming. There’s never a climax.
I don’t think his signature looks (the cutout bodycon dresses) elevate the collection enough.
But, for the white suit and the closing look alone, it’s one of my favorite collection this season. I really hope there will be a RTW version of that last look.
