Anna Karina's First Wave Style

Effortlessly chic and disheveled in that cute, existentialist way, she sings and pouts, bangs covering her perfectly lined eyes. Anna Karina, the actress, model, singer, wife and muse of Jean-Luc Godard, defined New-Wave feminine cool.

As a dancing would-be criminal in Band of Outsiders, Anna sports a loose sweater, boyfriend hat and a low ponytail. She pairs a stuffed-dog purse with matching red sundress as Marianne in Pierrot Le Fou. Elsewhere, Karina's characters don Technicolor tights, blue berets, ballet flats, and tousled hair—all the better for emotionally tormenting lovers, protesting the government and stripping. Wherever she is, whatever she's doing, she's trouble.

I just watched Une Femme est Une Femme a couple of days ago and that film is so inspiring (I did a blog post on it)
Anna is so captivating in her acting - I'm a new devotee!

I love the picture with the bike from Band of Outsiders, it makes me smile. Anna is truly her most enchanting self in that film and in Une Femme est Une Femme.

i loved une femme est une femme.her character was so free-spirited and honest ,reminding me a bit of jeanne moreau´s character catherine in "jules et jim".and than vivre sa vie-nana s.,also free-spirited yet not in that carefee kind of way.there was much more despair behind it.it only shows her range as an actress.both characters had that air of "absoluteness"(??) though.i also saw "bande à part" but except for the beginning...in a class room i think...i cannot remember it too well."chinesisches roulette" directed by rainer werner fassbinder is on my must-see list.
