OK, here it is
(I've translated it without dictionary and I'm not 100%-sure about a coupla passages...)
The Girl with a Cover [imho the title is a bit of a joke, it reminds the famous "Dama s sobachkoj" - "The lady with a dog" by A.P. Chehov ]
Anna-Marija Urazhevskaja, main sensation of 2006 catwalks, the youngest model ever appeared on french Vogue cover, managed to be photographed in only one week for 3 campaigns, Blumarine, Kenzo and Hermès.
This 15 y.o. girl is a supermodel. In the first 2 months of her professional career she managed to do what other, still successful, models do only in many years. Everything in her life is going at warp speed.
- Anna-Marija, who scouted you first?
AMU: It was the photographer Natalia Schastlivaja [the name means "lucky". Indeed! ], a friend of my dad, she's known me since I was a child. She told me I should try to be a model.
- Didn't all those rumours about models worry you?
AMU: I thought it would be interesting to give it a try. I didn't know anything about modeling.
- What about going away from home, and the constant trips from one country to another?
AMU: Even thoug I still live with my parents, leaving them for a few months wasn't too hard. I've been used to it since my childhood - I used to go living for long times with my grandparents during school. My parents have always been busy people, often abroad. Of course, I miss my family and home, but I ain't no "mom's child" [not sure if this is the correct english translation for this expression; in italian it would be "mammona" or "cocca di mamma" - meaning, somebody a bit too tighlty attached to parents]
- And what about school?
AMU: Studying in the english school I'm in ain't easy. But, having lost around a month, I still finished my 9th year with good marks. School is an important part of my life, I'll do all I can in order not to forget about it. I think I'll do 10th and 11th years as an extern, so I'll gain one year, that I can spend modeling and preparing for university. I still haven't chosen what I'll do next, but I'll find time for it. If needed, I'll study on planes during trips. Education is worth it.
- The first country where you modeled was Japan? How was it?
AMU: The first week was hard, I cried the first day. All alone, at the other side of the planet for 2 months, in summertime, when I normally would have been in holidays....but then my parents came for a week. It made me understand the importance of family support. Even though we didn't saw each other that much, as we were in different hotels, far from each other, and during days I was busy with castings. I've missed 'em a lot, but I didn't want to give up modeling.
- And how went that first fashion trip?
AMU: The first catwalk was Prada.
- Right away?! How did they choose you?
AMU: I went to the casting, japanese people took some pics of me and passed 'em to the italians. Then we went through a makeup-test, and then they selected me for the show. I went out for second, right after Sasha Pivovarova, the testimonial of Prada's campaign.
- What came after Japan?
AMU: Fashion weeks in Milan and Paris. In Milan I had an exclusive with Prada, where I opened and closed the show. I really enjoyed it, even though the fittings were exhausting, always going on until late night. But I didn't get tired of it, if you like the job and get paid well for it - which is also important - you don't get tired.
- Which town did you like better, Milan or Paris?
AMU: I made more shows in Paris: Givenchy, Kenzo, Cacharel, Sonia Rykiel, Costume Natinal, Dries Van Noten. It was a bit hard for my hair. But I didn't get tired physically, I had enough sleep. Many models in the same time do up to 15 shows, it's quite normal. Absolute record: 55 shows in a season (NYC - Milan - Paris). A season it's the month with fashion weeks where they show fall-winter or spring-summer [LOL I think it's funny and quite cute that she felt the need to explain to the journalist what a season is...]
- Which was your first international cover?
AMU: French Vogue, may issue, photographed by Mario Testino, a very nice person. In Paris they also photographed me for the cover of russian L'Officiel.
- They told me that french Vogue director is very fond of you...
AMU: Carine Roitfeld is a very kind woman, she has russian roots and even speaks russian. I think I could say that she's a bit like my godmother, she's helping me a lot with my career.
- What do you like to do in your free time after shows?
AMU: I don't like to sit down, I rather go shopping or for a walk.
