AnnaLynne McCord Teams Up with Reebok!
March 30, 2011
On television AnnaLynne McCord is at her best when playing the quintessential ice queen. It’s easy to see why she’s believable as the person everyone loves to hate: That impossibly toned athletic body, those gorgeous facial features, and her wide smile. But after spending a rainy New York City afternoon with the actress, I discovered that she is nothing like the frigid mean girl she plays on the small screen.
In fact, she has such a big heart that she busies herself with multiple charity projects, including Artists for Peace & Justice. She traveled with them to Haiti to help open the country’s first secondary school, which offers free education for 7th to 12th graders. “I went to visit [Haiti] in 2009, and I learned that half the country doesn’t have power at any given moment. I saw the kids all gather under a streetlamp to do their homework, but then the light went out so they picked up all of their things and moved to the next working streetlamp,” she said. “It was touching to see how dedicated they are to learning.”
When Reebok asked her to be the spokesperson for their EasyTone line of sneakers, AnnaLynne put philanthropy first. “Reebok is generously donating footwear to the Somaly Mam Foundation, which helps to prevent human trafficking in Cambodia, and that was a great incentive for me to come on board,” she told me. “Plus, the shoes really improved my thighs,” she said, laughing. “When I first saw them, I wanted to put them on mainly because they were pink! And then I realized, ‘Wow, they’re actually giving me a workout!’ I didn’t know they were going to do that.”
Not that she needs any physical improvement, considering that her perfect hair and gorgeous skin are almost supernatural, I pointed out. “I take good care of myself. Even with my schedule, I try to get a lot of sleep, which is so important for your skin,” she said. She counts MoroccanOil as her favorite hair product and sees facial peels as a necessity before big events. In fact, she scheduled a peel before shooting 90210’s big prom episode. “We just wrapped up filming it last week!” she noted excitedly. When asked if it was anything like her real prom, AnnaLynne responded, “I was home-schooled, so I never had a prom of my own.” Then, flashing her gorgeous smile, the actress mischievously added, “But don’t worry. I’ve been to prom on television many times and I always get the hot guy.”
