Anne St. Marie was born in Los Angeles County on June 16, 1926.
Anne Saint Marie's blue eyes and dark hair--always a lovely combination, shot her to the top of the modeling field during the mid to late fifties. She was a staple of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.
The camera captured her beautiful face, giving the viewer the impression of inner strength combined with intelligence.
Raised in California, she moved to NYC and modeled for the Ford Agency. While at a photo session for Vogue, she met photographer Tom Palumbo.
They married in 1960 and had a son.
Anne was a favorite of photographer Henry Clarke and together they produced some of the most beautiful black and white photographs to be seen in Vogue during that period.
After her career ended--around 1963, she became despondent. In 1970, a film was made based on her life titled, "Puzzle of a Downfall Child" by fashion photographer Jerry Schatzberg. It starred his then companion Faye Dunaway,
Anne Saint Marie died in 1986 from lung cancer.
