As i have already posted my two Favorited Painters, Egon Schiele and Francis bacon, in the favorite painters thread, I would therefore like to introduce you all to the most beautiful and creative choreographer and Dancer, Anne Theresa de Keersmeaker. Her choreogaphic work is for me the most beautiful and captivating I have ever seen. She rips the stage a part with a quality I haven't seen anywhere alse. She is Belgium Born and she as been producing dancework both for stage and film since her debut in 1980 and in 1983 she formed her own dancecompany called Rosas. She has been collaborating with some of the most inovative Filmartists, musicians... Steve Reich, Peter Veermeerch, Thierry De Mey, Peter Greenaway, Dries Van Noten, just to name a few..
One of my favorite work she did is "Rosas Danst Rosas"(1983) which was both staged and made into a film(directed by Thierry De Mey 1997). The film is breathtaking to watch. The rage which this technique expresses are even more forceful as it does not leave a chaotic impression, but on the contrary, seems to have been subjected to a rigorous system of rules. The choreography becomes even more breathtaking in the hands of De Mey's merciless and mathematical virtuosity. Im posting some photos from different dancework Keersmaeker has done over the years...
