Anika Kabban offers her best tips for making the most of Sydney during the RAFW

1. Quay - Best spot for a post-fashion fest dinner
Perched on the shores of Sydney Harbour with fabulous views of the Harbour Bridge, Quay is a great place to show overseas visitors what Sydney’s all about. One of my close girlfriends hosted an intimate wedding dinner here and it was the most magical evening. The service is impeccable and the food is the best of the best. What more can I say?
Overseas Passenger Terminal (02 9251 5600)

2. Rokit - Best spot to shop
For the best collection of true vintage pieces and antique jewellery, you MUST visit Rokit. I don’t have much of a collection of vintage pieces myself, but when I visit this store it’s hard to leave empty handed. Stunning jewellery from all eras, and great bags and coats. If you’re a vintage fanatic, this is definitely the place for you!
Metcalfe Arcade (02 9247 1332)

3. Blu Horizon Bar - Best spot for a drink
The most amazing cocktail and lounge bar, located on level 36 of the Shangri-La Hotel. With “almost” a 360-degree view of the whole city, you feel as if the harbour is within reach through the floor to ceiling windows. I love coming here after fashion week to unwind over delicious cocktails with my friends.
176 Cumberland St (02 9250 6000)

4. The Spa at Four Seasons - Best place to escape the crowds
If you’re feeling stressed and overworked then – without a doubt – try one of the treatment packages at the Four Seasons Hotel spa. The couple’s area features a private steam shower room and a whirlpool jacuzzi big enough to host a pool party!
199 George St (02 9250 3100)

5. Young Alfred - Best place for a quick bite
On the ground floor of Customs House is Young Alfred. There are some great homestyle Italian dishes but its known for the incredible but super simple pizzas. The boys here used to run Arthur’s Pizza on Oxford Street (remember its upside down sign?). And the bonus is you can even opt for a takeaway.
31 Alfred St (02 9251 5192)

I'm surprised she has a thread here. I think she's doing okay for a domestic model; we see so much of her in Australia in editorials and morning tv doing those modeling slots, but personally I have to say she utterly confuses me as to why she's a model at all - she's absolutely one model I'll never 'get'. :( I dunno, I'm trying to pick now exactly what bugs me about her because everytime I see her I really try to give her a go and appreciate her looks, as a few models that used to really sh#t me are now utter favourites by just really getting an eye for their looks, like Steph Carta and Freja...... but her appearance is odd and try as I might I've never worked her look out..

Being a bit analytical now sorry, 'cos this is bugging me and I do wonder if I'm the only one - I mean she works steadily, so there's something I'm missing! - she has fabulous legs and cheekbones, great height and a pretty eye colour; however I think her close-set eyes, stretched neck and the long gap between her nose and lips is I think what's unattractive in my eyes, and with the narrow shoulders and wiide hips her body is bowling pin shaped. Those are harsh observations though and overly critical, as other models have similar quirks and still make it overseas.... but looking at all her various pics here now I see the kicker is that with her face in general she simply never looks fresh, and maybe that's the thing, that's what's different. I don't know her age but if someone told me she were in her late twenties to early thirties I'd not be surprised at all - I've always assumed she started modeling really late and, not being of the calibre to make it in the international big league, she has instead kinda fallen into the 'reliable local model' role here whilst the rest go overseas, showing up on tv slots and every fashion week.

I do like the two black and white shots above, with the white background where she's kinda bent forward in them both, super leggy and flattering light, they look great. I also recall seeing those Cleopatra shots in a mag (and can't for the life of me remember which one now) and just about dropping the thing, she looked bloody amazing! Anyway she seems to be doing well in the domestic market, which is good for her, and a model friend from Perth who has met her rather a few times said she's pretty pleased with herself too; she once showed me her Facebook page, and nearly every single photo was of her (or sometimes she and her boyfriend) taken at arm's length by her, just endless shots by her taking her own photo for no apparent reason 'cos you couldn't tell any background, lol! (In fairness I do suspect however that a few model pages might be like that though..)

Would really love someone to convince me on this girl.. anyone got a really killer shot of hers? Would love to be wowed! :woot::flower:

I'm not sure if this will convince you, but I've seen her a couple of times without make up, hair and in plain clothes and she looks freaking gorgeous(not like lara or natasha gorgeous but still double take material)! Anyway, just sayin'

I'd kill for her body, to be honest! I know it's "bowling pin" shaped but that's what appeals to me. I think she's a stunner.

 Ahh, but you see that's the point of models, that they are supposed to be prettier than other humans. I think she is prettier than other humans, but not to the point of being a model, and my critique was of her as a model in that I didn't see her as being of that caliber. Nevermind, thanks anyway - I'm sure if I did see her in the street she'd certainly be striking, I just don't think my heart would stop beating and my eyeballs would explode as they might if I saw other models. :P:doh:
