Anouck Lepère tells Chic Outlet Shopping® about being the Fashion Ambassador for Maasmechelen Village for their 10th Anniversary Year.
I’m very proud to have been given the chance to take part in a Belgian success story and to support Maasmechelen Village’s 10th anniversary as their ambassador throughout this important year.

Maasmechelen Village will be fundraising for your charity Kageno in 2011, how did you get involved with the charity?
A stylist, Samira Aboul Nasr, I worked with before inspired me. And I was really curious. I’m blessed and I see it as an obligation to speak up for those who don’t have a voice. I’m so happy that Maasmechelen Village will support me in taking this responsibility further.

What is it about Kageno that strikes such a chord with you?
The hands on approach. Everything is discussable and it's a lovely group of people to work with.

Who are your favourite designers?
A lot! From the younger ones Peter Pilotto, Zac Pozen, Haider and from the established ones, of course Karl, Prada, Valentino, Celine…

You started your career working with Belgium designers who have since become world renowned and you’ll be taking a role in an exciting collaboration Maasmechelen Village is doing with the Flanders Fashion Institute later this year. How important is it to you to support emerging talents, particularly in Belgium?
I feel very lucky to come from a place where so much creativity is born and if I like it I say it, but I don't think that I have to promote things I don't like, I don't care if it is from Belgium or not.

Maasmechelen Village is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and you are also celebrating 10 years in fashion. What do you love most about working in the industry?
I always loved the diplomatic side of the business. The mix of culture, languages and different habits but in the end it's about social talent, hard work and beauty.

You travel around the world – what do love most about coming home to Belgium?
Cholocolate, Waffles and diamonds.
But I also love that Brussels has the honor to house the EU and the UN, it's such a luxury to have that in your backgarden. It is the most beautiful thing! I'm so proud of that.

What do you wear on a long flight?
something baggy and comfy!

What are you summer holiday plans?
there are plans emerging to go to the himalaya's

What does chic mean to you?
something elevated, smart.

I agree. Lose the hat and the pants and it would have been decent.
