Antonio Berardi said he wanted to capture “a sense of nostalgia…for precision and the finest details” with his resort collection. He explored that notion through specific elements — such as tiny covered buttons, a row of which ran up the front of a sinuous red evening dress in a movement that echoed the curve of the hip when a woman walks. The buttons can be undone at the neck and skirt, making the effect of the dress “quite chaste, but if they are undone it becomes something completely different,” Berardi noted.
The designer also played up strong, statement silhouettes: a crisp white minidress with a hooped skirt worn with a black bolero jacket, and a white jersey tank dress with a curved, asymmetric hem. Meanwhile, a number of looks showcased an inventive graphic macramé and lace detail that Berardi had developed, which appeared as a white petal pattern on a black tank dress, or as a white panel on the back of a voluminous black silk coat.
