Any Star Wars Fans?

I first thought she was Luke's daughter but that would be too easy I think. I like the Obi-Wan theory, that was my second thought. I don't know how I'm gonna do to wait 2 years for the next one

Actually, it'll only be 17 months.... Just a bit worse than waiting for new seasons of Game of Thrones....

:P

I was having a long conversation with a friend this morning. Saw it last night in IMAX 3D. I thought it was good fun and erased some bad memories of the prequel trilogy but I wasn't knocked out by it. My friend absolutely loved it and feels it captures that same feeling he got watching the original trilogy growing up.

Without going into major spoilers at all, I was just really surprised how much it felt like a reboot or throwback to A New Hope. A lot of major plot elements ticked off. Yes it is a sort of passing of the torch and I think they've been quite successful with it. But for me that kind of stopped it achieving greatness. So what I'm really excited for is Episode VIII when hopefully they will take these new characters and do something really exciting and original with them. The talent here is huge and there's no reason they couldn't produce something close to best in series.

I really liked Daisy Ridley and I think she has potential to become even better as the saga progresses. John Boyega did a decent job. Having seen a few episodes of Girls it was slightly difficult divorcing Adam Driver from that - but I enjoyed his temper tantrum baddie. Oscar Isaac is just quality. Harrison Ford has the instant charm and it had a decent arc for his character. Carrie Fisher didn't have that much to do. Domhnall Gleeson looks too young to play that part, but maybe it was on purpose?

Based on one viewing and not much time to process I'd place this third or fourth in the series. I think its lows are better that ROTJ's lows but not sure it's highs reach ROTJ's highs.

I thought it was obvious Rey’s Luke’s daughter by the end… Her going to him and their meeting— it’s a pretty clear reveal, with her about to burst into tears at the realization she’s standing before her father. And if that’s not enough, the first teaser for the film had Luke’s voiceover from Return of the Jedi: “The Force is strong in my family. I have it. my father has it, my sister has it…” and Rey is shown. So we can conclude “…and my daughter has it.”

This is Disney, they're not going to complicate things. If they want to introduce Obi-wan's long-lost daughter, they'll do it in one of the Anthology spin-offs they're churning out annually like clockwork-- so you'll need to pay separately to see that story.

If this is the case, then Skywalkers are really bad at family life....

Anakin force chokes Padme (i.e., spousal abuse) b/c he's having a bad day, thus also threatening the well-being of their unborn twins. Leia's kid turns to the dark side (prolly b/c she's too busy with her career to spend any time with him). Luke abandons his kid on a desert world (which is so much safer than being protected directly by your father, the most powerful force user in the galaxy) where she lives in a metal box and subsists on ration hand-outs (in exchange for whatever scrap metal she can collect) like a homeless person.

^^^ Even George said SW is a soap opera LOL

Amidala had all the potential to be a great character. I fell in love with her designs in TPM— even her monotone “Queen’s” english was cool to me. Apparently Natalie was channeling Lauren Bacall LOL But once AOTC rolled around, I hated how tacky her designs were and her enabling a murderer (“To be angry is to be human”… WTF, he just murdered an entire village, including women and children, and pacifist “love is all we need” Amidala just condoned and justified his actions…) By ROTS, I was ready for someone, anyone to kill her tired, stand-by-my-serial-killing-whiny-husband and lost-the-will-to live-even-though-I-just-gave-birth-to-twins a*s off. She’s such an offensive character.

And now Luke just turned away from his responsibilities not just to take care of his daughter, but the entire galaxy cos he fcuked up as a teacher…?

Yes, the Skywalkers are jerks and I’m rooting for the bad guys!

^Don't even get me started on the incest in the Empire Strikes Back....

They make Palpatine seem like a semi-decent fella.

And when you think about it.... Wasn't Shmi Skywalker kind of raped by the force? The Skywalkers should be on Jerry Springer.

Oh please, there was no incest in Empire— I kiss my sister like that…

BTW, I never could buy that Ewan’s Obi-Wan was really celibate. Qui-Gon looking like Al Bundy with his fake beard and stache that you could see the glue melting cos it was so hot in Tunisia and the other ugly jedi, yes… But Obi-Wan was way too hot. And by the time of ROTS, that may have been one awful movie but my god, that’s one hot jedi there. Bring a tanned, blond and sweaty Ewan back as a Tom Hardy’s Mad Max-type on Tatooine on the run from jedi hunters for one of the Anthology spin-offs and I’m in.

Yeah! 2 month ago i watched Episode VII - The Force Awakens in the cinema and loved it! Especially the humor, it was old school Star Wars ^_^
