Laura Cramer and Starr Hout have described their two-year-old Apiece Apart line as building blocks for the wardrobe, so for their first resort collection they offered plenty of great basics in elevated materials. Inspired by Cy Twombly’s Italian studio, the duo showed a cropped tank and slim pants in hexagon-print cotton poplin and silk faille, respectively, while a topcoat-and-shorts combo came in a geometric jacquard — patterns that mimicked the artist’s floor tiles.
Elsewhere, casually chic chambray was fashioned into a midi-length sheath and worn with flat slide sandals done in collaboration with il Sandalo. And since a Roman holiday wouldn’t be complete without some Italian racing stripes, Cramer and Hout worked theirs in a mismatched pattern on a boxy top and skirt set in a tech knit fabric.
