Heard on the Runway got a call this morning from Ms. Abeliunate’s agent Piero Piazzi, who runs the agency Women Model Management in Milan.
...
“She has delicate eyes,” said Mr. Piazzi. “We were laughing with the casting director after the show.”
...
Mr. Piazzi, who said that two other models were crying on the Jil Sander runway because they also had “almost transparent” eyes. (He didn’t know their names, and Heard on the Runway didn’t notice other models crying.) Ms. Abeliunaite, who is still in school in Lithuania, only walked in four shows in Milan — including Prada, Burberry and Pringle — and she’s not going to Paris because she is too young and this was her first season. The lights at Jil Sander were especially harsh this season, Mr. Piazzi says, and Ms. Abeliunaite didn’t shed tears at any other shows.
“We love the girl. We think she is amazing,” says Mr. Piazzi. As for why she looked so sad the agent explained that “the girls of the east have sad eyes in general.”
He confirmed that Ms. Abeliunaite commented on the Heard on the Runway blog, writing “There wasnt any small shoes or my emocional (sic) problems!!!! The lights was very strong and cameras was flashing all the time. My eyes are very sensitive thats why i was crying.”
