I was just saying to Faith, 'Isn't that the Dominican representative from SMOW?' I think she has amazing eyes and a killer bone structure! Truth be told, she might be better off at IMG where her she doesn't face the adversity of being 'similar' to Chanel Iman.

Her mother agency's called Sokrates. They have her listed as 5'9, but I'm not sure how old those stats are. Her IMG card will probably say 5'10 regardless.

On the evidence of the show packages we've received, it seems that recent discussions on racial diversity in modeling have had some impact on the model boards. We wouldn't call it a sea change—blondes and Eastern Europeans proliferate—but it's heartening to see women of color, like Korea's Seung-Hyun Kang, winner of Ford's Supermodel of the World contest, represented. Another new face that caught our eye is that of Austria Ulloa, who, despite her name, is not from that small Alpine country but the Dominican Republic. Ullola, likes to hang out at the movie theater when she's not playing volleyball or listening to music. Her favorite city? Paris, of course.

How did Ford not sign this girl? She's very fresh and striking, with a great runway frame, and has commercial appeal too. You'd think they'd be head over heals?!

I'm not sure what IMG were thinking with her showcard, though. Could be the scan, but white text on a white background...

SANTO DOMINGO.- Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss, Liya, Heidi Klum, Alek Wek, Lara Stone, son las nuevas compañeras de agencia de la dominicana Austria Ulloa, la espigada joven de 14 años que ganó hace cuatro meses el concurso de modelos que organiza Sócrates Mc kinney y su agencia Sokrates Estudio de imagen. Austria acaba de firmar un contrato a nivel mundial con la agencia IMG, que la llevará a recorrer USA, Milán, Paris y Londres. Además, ya ha sido solicitada para España y Suiza por las agencias lideres de eso países.

Austria Ulloa, con una estatura de 5'10 ½" y un cuerpo que ha causado sensación entre los especialistas de la industria del modelaje y la alta costura en New York, se une al grupo de modelos dominicanas que han sido impulsadas por Mc kinney al ruedo mundial.

Elizabeth Andujar, Alexandra Rivera, Topacio, Yanilka, Jonleidys, Joelissa y Raquel Ortega son algunas de las modelos de Sokrates que trabajan a nivel internacional. "Estoy muy orgullosa de abrir una nueva brecha para que chicas como yo entren en el modelaje internacional por la puerta grande" informó vía telefónica la joven dominicana. "Si alguien me hubiera dicho esto hace cuatro meses no le hubiera creído". Pero Sócrates Mc Kinney, conocido por su ojo agudo, por ver la belleza que encierra nuestra característica caribella, vio en Austria las condiciones y el potencial de ser merecedora de este contrato.

Mc Kinney informó a este medio que la joven Ulloa, oriunda de San Juan de la Maguana, se encuentra en estos momentos en New York acompañada de su madre, donde esta siendo fotografiada por importantes fotógrafos para hacer su portafolio profesional, regresará al país para finalizar su año escolar y será lanzada en Paris, Londres y Milán en la próxima temporada primavera-verano que comienza en septiembre. Una vez finalizado el tramite migratorio basará su sede en New York, desde donde recorrerá las pasarelas del mundo representando la mujer dominicana.

^Thanks for reminding everyone mainstay! I had a feeling that when they mentioned that Prada was looking for a black model, that Austria might be a contender. She certainly has that rough yet youthful quality that Miuccia seems to be so fond of lately.

I'll certainly be keeping my fingers crossed for her!
