Azzedine Alaia F/W 07.08 Paris

I need those white shoes! They are so perfect. :crush:

What are his prices like?

He knows his nitch and he sticks to it. I adore all of it. The detailing and cut is amazing. Magical. One major difference, imo, is how playfully sexy it all is. Alaia is usually so alluringly serious. Always very structured - this maintains that signature structure but also weaves a bit of girlish whim into.

It's an Alaia!
An al-whatta?
It's like, this totally important designer.. :D

I love it all, it's so beautiful -it feels really contemporary but also like it will never go out of style. It also doesn't feel like it's trying to hard to be edgy by adding ugly or bizarre details like most recent collections, it just works.

which white shoes? there's so many white shoes...

the ankle boots will probably be around £600-650

I'm not too excited about this. His work looks a lot better in editorials and on people in the real world. But I'm not too big of a fan, to start with.

Alaia makes my heart skip a beat, it is so drop dead gorgeous. That dress with the tiered ruffles down the back, that dress with the square sheer bits...Totally gorgeous and so sexy.

This really is beautiful. When I look at it, it doesn't make me pick out my dislikes because everything is so wonderfully made. Like cloth sculpted and stretched out to mold the body...<3

I don't know...maybe I've been looking at lots of art and having lots of art critique sessions in classes...

Simply beautiful.
What I admire even more than his work is the fact he's remained true to himself and what a designer is really about. Craftmanship.
Not falling prey to Prada's enevitable desire for enlargement for profits sake has kept him beyond the mass-manipulating luxury circuit.
One of the last true designers...

Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic work! Alaia is still the King of Cling for sure, just in a different modern sense, he does something far better than what Karl is doing at Chanel, who slagged AA's work before. Anyway, who hasn't been slaughtered by Karl when they do better. Just a shame that there're so many people dunno Alaia's work, or if they do they know him for his shoes or handbag (altho they are great too!)
AA deserves a lot more credit as a creator, genius and artist.

Magical is the word! You can see how good he is just looking at the pictures the third white dress in post #2 is TDF.Simply DIVINE!
Oh how i wish he would do shows......:(
Brian thanks a million for all the pictures.:flower:

Do you know that Azzedine Alaia once designed for discount retailer Tati back in the 90's for an exchange of right to use the retailers' trademark check design. That's cool!

Even without clicking on the thumbnails I could tell that this would be amazing!
