Balenciaga Haute Couture F/W 2025.26 Paris

I was nostalgic for the past days... I mean I love to hate Gvasalias and I love to love them as well:) It's my guitly pleasure of sort! THey are a big part of fashion today and they made fashion into a much bigger pop cultural thing (from Vetements streetwear push, to Balenciaga subversion of typical luxury fashion, even their fake/real beef made fashion in general more POP). But seing this show – I expected more from Demna. I know his focus is on other things, but if it would not be his last collection for Balenciaga – for me it would be the least memorable couture.

Living for this show:
- The models who struggled so hard to keep balance in those heels
- The boxy silhouettes that made most people look like walking bricks
- Kim's nightgown slip dress LOL
- Naomi not keeping the slow walking pace who had to stop and pose otherwise she would have overcome Liu Wen
- Who's ready to see Eliza Douglas opening / closing Demna's first Gucci runway show?
- The last look that is the white version of this red lace dress from FW23

LOL Demna taking his bow like a 2000s emo baddie with socially avoidant anxiety. The bow of the so-called MaRTIN MaRgIELa of the 21st century. IDK but this troll mf needs to stay in fashion forever.

Most of the looks just resemble Azkaban wardens... with legs, like as always.

I understand he probably wanted to do a bit of retrospective for this collection, but... I wanted him to go with a bang! Like fully new more extreme vision for couture that it would leave me restless for his gucci. But this... it looks like everything was already said and done. Did not see much difference from his most recent RTW collections... or pre-collections. Also... I saw somwhere he was teasing that it's his most conceptial conceptual collection... but what is the concept? Anyone has shownotes?

Dreadfully anti-climatic. There were some interesting techniques and constructions but nothing came together exceptionally with most of the looks boring and trite.
A torturous tenure ended in a whimper.

I wish it was goodbye forever….

Yeah the show notes were: ChatGPT

His influence on fashion can’t be denied and even if I checked out of Balenciaga a long time ago, I will always remember his first collection. That’s the collection that will stay and that cemented his place in fashion today.

I think this Haute Couture collection really confirmed the fact that we are at the end of something. More than his tenure, there’s something very draining about his aesthetic.

I think ultimately that his work, or at least his silhouette, more and more Muglerized than ever (Mugler referenced Balenciaga and the 50’s a lot) shines more with structure. I think the leather skin tight silhouettes, the mikado silk dresses and the very structured tailleurs had impact.

It went downhill unfortunately with the sloppy oversized silhouettes.
I was very bothered by the shoulder pads of the wedding gown.

And finally, him taking his bow in this outfit reminded me of the damages he did to the street. The biggest social experiment I guess. Thanks to him, Rich people (mostly Americans though) entered space someone from a lower social class would be banned from, looking like that.

and the Sade song at the end was great, as always
Yes very telling of Demna to choose that song!

I gave you all the love I got
I gave you more than I could give
I gave you love
I gave you all that I have inside
And you took my love
You took my love

His feelings on the fashion industry and critics most likely..

I loved the dress on Liu. The rest is not offensive to me, honestly. He won’t be missed for sure. I feel like Pierpaolo won’t bring much to the table but at least we won’t see oversized menswear on couture shows.
