Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2026 Paris

I don’t think he’s cut out for the job, but I don’t think it’s his fault entirely. When MGC left Valentino, you could easily distinguish PPPs design language and vision for the house from both Mr. Valentino (RIP) and her. This isn’t the case for Balenciaga. Under Ghesquiere and Demna, Balenciaga established itself as a house that is always on the precipice of something new. Demna’s Balenciaga was so radical and lucrative that it established its own silo of house codes that the suits weren’t willing to hire someone who would deviate from it. However, the house needs and deserves someone who is disruptive, not someone who bends the knee. This collection looks like it was designed by Jerry Lorenzo or the Public School guys.

It's very insipid.
From the draping and the dresses shown in this collection, the July couture show is going to be another "Anatomy of couture" Valentino HC collection by PPP, yawn.

Ugh, this makes his runway debut seem elevated in comparison :grinningwsweat: Almost all of it looks quite dated and stuck-in-between, as if he's not able to expand his Valentino repertoire and not allowed to significantly deviate from what Demna did, yet still expected to remind fashion geeks of 0ld Balenciaga. It's not even just the "couture atleisure" direction that is rather démodé, there is something about the execution, the color choices and gold hardware details that makes it look like stuff stylish people stay away from even at TJ Maxx.. not a great continuation for Pierpaolo, nor for the house of Balenciaga.
