When MGC left Valentino, you could easily distinguish PPPs design language and vision for the house from both Mr. Valentino (RIP) and her. This isn’t the case for Balenciaga. Under Ghesquiere and Demna, Balenciaga established itself as a house that is always on the precipice of something new. Demna’s Balenciaga was so radical and lucrative that it established its own silo of house codes that the suits weren’t willing to hire someone who would deviate from it. However, the house needs and deserves someone who is disruptive, not someone who bends the knee. This collection looks like it was designed by Jerry Lorenzo or the Public School guys.
