Ballet flats

thanks siren..you are absolutely right. I saw them online as well and fell for them but never saw them here. then i was shopping at holts for a gift and saw those flats and impulsively just snatched them up w/o much thought at the time. there's just sth about 'exclusive' and 'limited edition' that catches me but after looking at them at home...i just felt uneasy and wasn't sure. considering how flimsy it is i'm gonna return them and get sth else. do you have any recommendations?

don't bother with french/london soles. they're cute/trendy, but overpriced for the comfort, imho. i saw those metallic gap ones irl that someone posted a few pages back and they're SUPER CUTE in person! i think they're $30 or so, so they're worth checking out.

i think the gap ones are really cute and affordable too. Unfortunately...i'm a size 5.5...the smallest size Gap comes in is size 6

mercer - yes! that is good - it is not right for her to mark them up that much - i can see $50-100, but 200! come on!
stores should be on to this as well - and only allow one color/size - and not 1 person putting there name down at EVERY store for 1 or 2 of each size.

I TOTALLY agree and 200's being conservative..it's a 300.00/65% markup (almost 350/75% markup if it's shipped to a state you wouldn't have to pay tax)! It's not even supply and demand, nobody's buying them up for that price. They're just sitting there while so many people want them. That's just rude.

If nobody buys those ebay flats, she will be forced to lower her prices eventually. What would she do with a bunch of flats that are not even her size cluttering up her home otherwise? (probably tripping over the boxes in the living room). So I suggest be patient and the prices will fall

vicky - what color patent are you looking for? black are not out yet unfortunately, i heard there will be a milk chocolate patent as well! - don't think these are the same as the chocolate patent b/c they are nothing like 'milk chocolate' we'll see, though.

Wow mona...niiiice. Do you know if there are any blue leathers for f/w? Last season they had the navy patents (I can't believe I didn't get a pair of those) and the royal blue leathers, which were pretty but looked kind of bright from the pictures.

suferchick - that's right i forgot about the navy patent and that bright blue leather! i missed the navy too. there was (1) pair on ebay in my size and i went to bin and someone else was quicker
i have seen that blue leather and agree it was too 'blue' kind of 80s looking.
i have not heard about another blue yet - but let's hope for us blue-lovers!

honestly, what a HUGE investment the ebay lanvin/overpirced seller made! she has 23 pairs (!) listed. if she paid retail for them that's over $11,500. *faints*. Perhaps she's sold a few pairs at the high price. but, ohmygod!

yes a huge investment - but i think she makes SO much money of ebay! last s/s she bought out all the cl shoes - yoyos (red patent) and was selling them 200+ over retail. that really adds up! i really hope she doesn't sell any of the lanvin's and has to return them to barneys - i can imagine the sa face when she walks in with all these shoes to return. what i can't figure out is how she was able to purchase so many w/o sending red flags. there are only a few barneys that actually had these in stock. wouldn't a sa think it was weird that someone was buying 1-2 pairs in all the sizes?!

well said! there really should be rules about people buying shoes in mulitple sizes. I can't remember how long a person gets to return items to barneys. it really would be hilarious to watch this person walk in with a little red wagon piled high with shoes!

"hi! weirdly, all these shoes in various sizes didn't fit me! isn't that odd? i'd like my money back please."

I love my ballet flats, being 5'9 and taller than most college students- I enjoy them. Plus, hiking around campus all day is not possible in heels. So I have many pairs, in many colors. Some have a small heel some are the "tradtional" ballet flats.
My point: I was at work (teach a class at the Boys and Girls Club) wearing my leopord print flats and some 13 year old girl came up to me and ask me if I were preganant because I was wearning "preganant lady slippers".
