Ballet flats

I love ballet flats. I wish men could wear them!! I really want to buy a pair of old Chanel Cambons.

Nice shoes there. I'm also a guy who loves ballet flats! I occasionally wear them too! I have loads of pairs now! It can certainly be done. You just need the right outfit and attitude to pull it off.

I don't think the CHANEL word on those shoes is big enough. Somebody could miss it. ;)

barneys in nyc has tons of lanvin flats, lots of colors (there is a red, a turqoisey blue, 2 shades of beige...), regular leather and perfo. my favorite is the taupe.

New satin flats at Delia's...only $34! (Also available in black)

I loooove the blue ones!

i had a shoe orgasm upon viewing--- i never knew the lanvin flats looked so good- this is about priorities--hmm--rent or flats?

the delias satin flats look best in that blue i think. they're fabulous!

I need opinions from the shoe experts here, a younger girl over on another thread told me that ballet flats are childish and unprofessional and not appropriate to wear to work. Would it really be unprofessional or inappropriate to wear a plain black, brown or navy blue leather pair (think Lanvin flats) to work? My opinion is no, but I would also like to hear from you guys. We can't all wear heels all day...

there are so many other flat shoes that aren't ballet flats--- so i really don't understand the massive controversy. if anything, i just think the trend is about to die.

You didn't answer my question. I asked whether it would be inappropriate to wear a plain pair of ballet flats to work, not whether they are trendy or in style.

well--if i as your boss, no. i would think it looked ridiculous---if they were the stretchy leather sort. but depending on if its a creative envronment vs. corppoprate it could be fine. but seriously---when a style that big goes out---its downright tacky to rock it incesantly cuz by then all the 12 yr olds got hold of it too ugh.

maybe if you wore them out with tights and a diaphonus mini dress/skirt and some thin layering. that could be pretty

Alright, thank you for your input. I'm not sure why as a boss you'd be so concerned about your employees keeping up with trends though. Maybe if you worked in the fashion industry and that was part of the job.

i was saying for a corporate atmosphere where its impotant to distinguish youorself as a competitor-----like banking.

really depends on your line of work, in mine, they would be perfectly appropriate and I wear my lanvin flats to work all the time :flower:

that said, I think ballet flats with a little bit more embellishment are better for work, just something like a trim or a medallion or something in the toe area. I think the super plain kind, like the lanvin ones, are a bit too casual-looking sometimes.

i think these are work frendly if worn with stockings, and appropriate pants
