Jean Shrimpton, Michael Caine, and Black & White Memories by David Bailey: those were the touch points for Deborah Lloyd, Banana Republic’s executive vice president of product development and design, in designing her elegant fall collection, shown Monday at Milk Gallery. “It’s about clean,” Lloyd said following the well-received graphic collection based mostly on variations of black, white, and grey—but that ended with a series of eye-popping pieces in pink, blue, purple, red, and coral. Must-haves included the cashmere t-shirt dresses, not to mention a graphic white coat. This was a dressed up and, of course, wearable collection, as evidenced by a brown pony swing jacket and black herringbone fur collar coat that was right on point for the upcoming season. The city girl will be a sophisticated one this fall.
