Grand Central
Nearly 750,000 people pass through New York’s Grand Central every day but as it celebrates its 100th birthday, photographer Barbara Anastacio and stylist Hazel Ong focus in on just one, Barbara Vasle.
Train stations are in most instances an unavoidable pain. They are architectural middle men that ask us to join long queues, to wait and wait in drafty ticket halls and to endure the most disappointing of fast foods. Rarely do you visit a train station and continue your journey inspired. Grand Central Terminal, one of New York’s greatest treasures, is a rare exception. There’s a reason why Thom Browne set his ski themed musical for Moncler Gamme Bleu autumn/winter 12 in its halls. With its marble staircases, gleaming chandeliers and large Tiffany clock, the ornate terminal romanticises travel. Every journey, however small or insignificant, becomes special. Celebrate its centenary by exploring Barbara Anastacio and
Hazel Ong’s shoot.
