L.A.’s fashion gurus interacted with hipsters at Thursday night’s Gen Art event celebrating the launch of Acura’s TSX. Host
Molly Sims, whose first car was a used Alfa Romeo, wore Alberta Ferretti and hammered gold Neil Lane jewelry to achieve that “bohemian, undone” look. The boite Republic transformed into a black-and-white enclave showcasing photos taken during the event. They were countered with guerilla nightlife pics, courtesy of the event’s six featured photogs.
“I think one cocktail can do wonders – and I’m not at all promoting alcoholicism!” laughed
Rashida Jones, a Prius driver, about the value of photos pre- and post-cocktail, summery in a Zambos Vintage Couture black belted yellow one-sleeve dress. “Cocktails are a dangerous, slippery slope.”
Becki Newton,
Cheryl Burke,
Amy Davidson and
Sarah Lancaster mingled as Acura’s newest baby took center stage under suspended disco balls. Newton, daughter of an artist, admitted she didn’t learn to drive until she was 25.
Inside Republic, all were ready to be photographed as the city’s fashion set brushed shoulders with its cool kids. Sims insisted that the clothes don’t necessarily make the man–or the photo. “It depends on who you’re with,” she said. “But as long as you feel good in what you’re wearing, you’re going to have a good night.”
