Beirut

i randomly found postcards from italy on a shared itunes network at work and was instantly hooked. it's very rare i enjoy more then a handful of songs from any given artist but i thoroughly enjoy both of beirut's albums.

beirut's sound was like nothing i had ever heard at the time - i especially love the use of more "traditional" instruments...it created a more "organic" sound to me, none of this over processed computer enhanced music if you get what i'm saying lol.

anyway just wanted to add my "gushing praise" to a very talented group/artist.

i'm off to find me some neutral milk hotel - thanks for the rec!

Listening to Beirut so I thought I'd bump the thread ^_^

yes same here....3 weeks after....

I canot stop listening to Nantes.... I'm so jealous of this girl he wrote the song for.... (according to dailymotion comments he dedicated the song to Nantes and a girl he met overthere. France..... I'm having a "patriotic" mood at the moment....thanks to Taben and recent readings, I must say....)
I wish my bf could write such a (simple) cute song.... with his saxophone...

here is Nantes video, shooted on Paris' streets...

I just went to their gig last night and suprise suprise they were amazing!:buzz: I will post some kind of crappy photos I took later when I'm at home.

a sunday smile

it's so amazing the talent this guy bodes. like patrick wolf, this he is only in his early 20's and he is making some of the most amazing sounds one would think to hear from somebody beyond his years. he is a maestro in the truest of forms.

I discovered Beirut around March, I'm now obsessed ♥
The Flying Club Cup must speak to me from a past life .

lil bump....they have a new single out, new album due august im pretty sure and im seeing them in october

Thanks for bumping the thread! The new album is brilliant. Zach is such a talented writer.

I am glad that they haven't become one of those bands that everyone throws out as a favorite like "Bon Iver" and "Fleet Foxes". Similar vibes, but I personally feel Beirut is much better. I do feel like this album is a easier listen than previous ones, and will get them even more fans and (gulp) popularity, but they deserve any success and recognition that comes their way.

My favorites on the album so far are "The Vagabond", "A Candle's Fire", "The Rip Tide" and "Santa Fe". And next week, it'll probably be the other half of the album. My point is, it's perfection

Vagabond:

Santa Fe:

Thank you for the videos, Heather
I still haven't gotten over East Harlem. The new album is really good, Zach's voice is hypnotizing.
